Virden – Rick “Long Hair” Lynn Van Huss passed away at 1:49 P.M. Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at his residence in Virden, IL.

Rick was born on November 23, 1953 in Springfield, IL a son to Robert E. Lee & Doris Eileen (Robinson) Van Huss.

Rick loved to be out doors and loved to fish and was a member of a bowling team.  He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren.  He was an avid Cardinal fan.  He was a dedicated carpenter and he enjoyed his work.  He never met a stranger, was good hearted and would help anyone in need.  He loved the demolition derby.

Surviving Rick is a daughter, Kassy Lynn Van Huss of Auburn, IL; son, Tanner Lee Van Huss of Springfield, IL; brother, Donald Van Huss of Virden, IL; granddaughters, Addelae Montgomery and Annabell Montgomery both of Auburn, IL, Ailiana Kodatt of Auburn, IL, Bailey Van Huss of Springfield, IL and nephew Russell Van Huss of Springfield, IL.  Rick is preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no visitation, cremation rites have been accorded by the Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, IL.  There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the American Legion  Hall in Virden, Illinois and is suggested you bring a covered dish.  In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the family, c/o Kassy Van Huss, 212 East Jefferson Street, Auburn, IL  62615.  To leave a comment for the family, please visit:  www.calvert-ferryfuneralhomes.com

  1. No one will understand what Rick meant to Tom and I and we both loved him like a member of our family. He was always ready to help me when Tom passed. I will miss him so much. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. God bless you, Rick!
