Virden– Pearl M. Harrison 78, of Virden, IL, passed away Saturday March 2, 2019 at Heritage Health Care Springfield, IL, surrounded by her loving family.

Pearl was born January 10, 1941 in Vandalia, IL, a daughter of Jerry T. and Ruby P. (McDowell) Harrison. She married LaRue Scales of Chillicothe, IL December 28th, 1957 and they later divorced.  She was a licensed Day Care Provider for over 32 years retiring in May 2012 and a member of the First Presbyterian Church Virden, IL.  Pearl enjoyed sewing; quilting, whom she made and gave away to many; bowling on the Wednesday Nite Ladies league and was a member of the Women’s International Bowling Congress (WIBC) as well as  spending time with family, friends and her extended daycare families she loved and cared for as her own.

Pearl is survived by her daughter, Kelly L. (Vince) Pitchford of Virden, IL, sons, Kevin L. (Tracy) Scales of Riverton, IL, and Wesley E. (Jennifer) Scales of Riverton, IL, and Richard D.(fiancé: Carri Matheney)  “Rich” Scales of Virden, IL, 7 grandchildren, Kaleb and Koby Pitchford, Tori, Alleigh and, Reese Scales, Lerin and Ryan Hughes, 3 great grandchildren, a brother, Earl R. (Myra) Harrison of Hillsboro, OH, an aunt, Pricella McDowell of Bingham, IL, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were her parents, sister, Evelyn “Judy” Harrison. and a brother, Darrell Harrison.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Virden, IL. A Celebration of Life and burial of ashes will be at a later date. Please visit:www.calvert-ferryfuneralhomes.com to leave a comment for the family.

    My Heart goes out to you all. Your mother was a Great mother and wife. There are times when we don’t understand things. Moms always expplain the differences . May you all take what she has taught you and be helpful to each other. May you all feel the Love and Comfort of our Lord , Family, and Friends . May God Bless your mom on her next Journey as well as each one of you. .

  2. Very sorry for your loss. I met Pearl through a Mary Kay party and I just really enjoyed her and visiting a couple times. Very sweet person! Donna Gresham.
