Hot Springs, AR – Annie Jenkins-Adams, 76 of Hot Springs Village, AR, formerly of Auburn, IL succumbed to heart failure at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Hot Springs, AR on May 7, 2019, after suffering with several health issues throughout the years.

She was born April 29, 1943 in St. Louis, MO. Her parents, Clifford and Ruth Jenkins preceded her in death.

To cherish her memories, she leaves her loving husband, Neil Adams and loyal companion, Chewie, sister, Rachel (Ern) Neumann Auburn, IL,
Children: Rebecca (Kevin) Hampton Franklin, IL, Debra (Steve) McGown Irving, IL, Trustin (Lori) Harrison Springfield, IL, Connie (Andy) Chan Naperville, IL, Mary Jo (Tim) Wood Austin, TX, Martha (Jon) Whitmer Mesa, AZ, Neil J. Adams Joliet, IL, 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Auburn High School with the class of 1961. She completed her college degree and obtained her LCSW license. Annie was a dispatcher for Virden Police Department and worked as a LCSW at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL and St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, IL.
She and Neil moved to Hot Springs Village, AR where she was active in several women’s groups. Annie attended The Village Bible Church where memorials will be appreciated at 100 Ponderosa Way in Hot Springs Village, AR 71909.

There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. Friday May 17, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church Virden, IL, with Rev. John Huxtable officiating. Robert E. “Bobbie” Pullen

Chatham – Robert E. “Bobbie” Pullen, 91, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Virden, IL, passed away at 9:35 P.M. Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Villas of South Park Chatham, IL, with his family at his side.

Bobbie was born on July 17, 1927 in Charleston, MO a son of Alfred E. and Mary Pauline (Wright) Pullen.  He married Dorothy V. Kenway on January 17, 1948 in Wyatt, MO.

Bobbie enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945,  during WWII and served aboard the U.S.S. Boxer, CV-21.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post #386 and was a member of The Grace Southern Baptist Church, Virden, IL.

Surviving Bobbie are sons, Kim E. (Lori) Pullen of Dupo, IL, Rob (Patti) Pullen of Springfield, IL; daughters, Paula Wight of Goose Creek, SC, Kathy (Dennis) Vala of Chatham, IL, and Susan Marie (David) Vickery of Jacksonville, FL; 9 grandchildren,  14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Preceding Bobbie in death were his parents; wife, Dorothy V. Pullen, sister, Katherine Harkins and a brother, Billie Pullen.

Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Monday, May 6, 2019 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, IL.  Funeral service will start immediately following the visitation at 12:30 P.M. with the Rev. Virden – Doreen Marie Wolford, 72, of Virden, formerly of Springfield and Thayer, died at 9:15 A.M. Friday, April 26, 2019 at Sunrise Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Virden, IL.

Born June 11, 1946, in Springfield, she was the daughter of Robert A. and Deloras Dunwoody Wolford.  A brother, William “Billy” Wolford preceded in death May 14, 1970.

Miss Wolford was a 1965 graduate of Virden Community High School and for many years was active in Special Olympics, the recipient of several awards including gold medals.  Many years previous, she was employed with Goodwill Industries in Springfield and for Mick and Mary’s Restaurant in Thayer.  A former resident of Springfield Supportive Living, she took part and earned achievements in the facility’s competitive Spelling Bee events.  She also loved to play Bingo, loved working crossword puzzles and was a avid Cardinal’s fan.

She was a member of Springfield Bible Church, where she was a volunteer in several areas, and was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Virden.

Surviving are a sister, Roberta Smith of Virden; two nephews, Todd (Kim) Smith of Virden and Brent Smith of Springfield; a niece, Lori Smith of Virden; two great-nephews and a great-great niece.

Joanna Sue Krebaum (1917-2019)

Springfield – Joanna Sue Krebaum, 101, of Springfield, died on April 11 at Regency Nursing Home.  She was born on October 11, 1917 in Virden, IL.

Joanna was a church organist for over 30 years and loved teaching children in Sunday School.  In Miami she was employed by Pan American Airlines directing planes on landing and takeoff. She greatly enjoyed her time living in Florida.  In Springfield she was employed by Franklin LifeInsurance Company.  She was the last member of her graduating class from Virden High School in 1935 and was also a lifetime member of the Macoupin County Historical Society.

She is survived by the following cousins: Jim and Shirlee Krebaum of Morris, Illinois, Jay Krebaum of Morris, Illinois, Timothy and Michelle Krebaum and her namesake, Elouise Joanna Krebaum of Sacramento, California, Robert and Jane Krebaum of Orchard Lake, Michigan, Bruce and Gail Billingsley of Plainwell, Michigan, Tony and Angela Fatato of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Justin and Jennifer Riley of Plainwell, Michigan, and many friends and neighbors.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Virden Cemetery.  Rev. John Huxtable officiating. Alden “Dean” Van WInkle, 88, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Ballwin Ridge Health and Rehabilitation in Wildwood, Missouri.

He was born March 1, 1930, in Springfield, Illinois to Dewey and Anna (Dodd) Van Winkle.

Alden was the cherished grandfather of Sarah Van Winkle and great-grandfather of Gabrielle Van Winkle; treasured brother of Walter “Gene” (Kathleen) Van Winkle and Gary (Virginia) Van Winkle; dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many. Preceding him in death are his son, Donald Van Winkle, the mother of his son and wife of 42 years, Peggy C. Welch, and his second wife of 14 years, Erna C. Ladage.

Virden – Norman S. “Pony” Langheim, 87, of Virden, IL, passed away Monday April 8, 2019 at his home.

Norman was born December 26, 1931 in Lowder, IL, a son of Henry and Elizabeth R. (Sommer) Langheim. He was a 1951 graduate of Virden High School and an U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Norman married Peggy S. Dalby August 30, 1958 in Virden, IL. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Virden, IL, and prior to retirement farmed in Bois D’Arc Twp. Norman was an antique tractor enthusiast.

Norman is survived by his wife, Peggy S. Langheim of Virden, IL, daughters, Lynda Langheim and Sara Stivers both of Springfield, IL, sons, Stephen Langheim of Donnellson, IL, Philip (Lynn) Langheim of Naperville, IL, Robert (Paula) Langheim of Lawrenceburg, KY and Joseph (Gail) Langheim of Virden, IL, 6 grandchildren, special family friend, Jay (Mary) Brawner of Girard, IL, brothers, Henry Langheim and Father Albert Langheim both of Virden, IL and Bernard (Pat) Langheim of Salem, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were his parents, granddaughter, Samantha Jo Wright, brothers, Lawrence, Harold, Ernest, Aloyusis “Pete”, Paul and Francis Langheim.

Girard– Eunece Rita (Boehler) Jones, 72, passed away at 9:45 A.M. Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Broward Health Medical Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL with her family members at her side.

Rita was born October 8, 1946 in Springfield, IL a daughter to Lawrence John and Alma Elizabeth (House) Boehler.  She married Richard E. Jones on June 26, 1965.

Rita was employed by Fiat-Allis, Raynor Holiday Inns and Glaxco Smith-Kline Pharmaceutical Company retiring in 1993.  After retiring she worked part time for Thermal Cermanics in Girard for two years. Rita received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Illinois and was a member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association, Girard Food Pantry, Girard Library Trustee, National Rifle Association and a member of St. Patrick’s Church where she served in various capacities including Eucharistic Minister, teacher for School of Religion, Pastorial & Financial Councils and Trustee.

Richard and Rita developed and owned Twin Pines Campground and Canoe Rental in Mountain View, Missouri until it was sold in 1980.

Surviving Rita are her 3 sisters, Ava Norris of Springfield, IL, Bernice Mulacek of Dawson, IL, Charlotte Boehler of Springfield, IL; brother, Frank (Bev) Boehler of Springfield, IL; sister-in-law, Linda Thebeau of Girard, IL; God-Daughters, Debby (Jose) Lopez of Springfield, IL, Angela Boehler of Venice, FL, Anita (Keith) VanHuss of Virden, IL; 14 nieces and nephews three of which Richard and Rita helped to raise:  Michael (Susan) Boehler of Springfield, IL, Jennifer (Larry) Westbrook of Dallas, TX, Michelle Boehler of Springfield, IL and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Springfield – Floyd Keith Watson, 58, of Virden,  IL, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019 atSt. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL with his loving family at his side.

Floyd was born January 2, 1961 in Marion, Kentucky, the son of Kenneth Floyd and Bonnie Jean Wright Watson. He married Catherine Dean on February 13, 1981 in Staunton, VA.

Floyd adored his precious grandchildren: Alexandra Jean, Abigail Grace, and Emma Catherine. He loved music, classic cars, and motorcycles but most of all he loved spending time with his family.  He was a coalminer at Crown III mine.

Surviving Floyd are his parents, Kenneth Floyd and Bonnie Jean (Wright) Watson, his son, Zebediah (Kendal) Watson of Girard, IL and a daughter Jessica Watson of Springfield, IL brother, Jason Watson of Girard, IL and two sisters, Connie (Amy) Watson of Springfield, IL and Mary Lynn (Derek) Manning of West Frankfort, IL, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Jack Theo “Ted” Wise II

Springfield, IL-Jack Theo “Ted” Wise, 65 of Springfield, IL, passed away on Tuesday March 19, 2019 at his home.

Ted was born April 23, 1953 in Jacksonville, IL, the son of Jack Theo and Velma Snyder Wise. He married Karen Drake in December 1989 on a boat in Cancun and again (legally) in March 1990.

Ted was a 1971 graduate of Jacksonville High School and a 1975 graduate of Southern Illinois University with a degree in animal science. A talented football player and wrestler in high school, he was a member of the SIU Saluki Football Team playing nose guard and linebacker from 1971 – 1975 and was given the Harry Bobbitt Spirit Award. During his career, he worked as a hog farmer, pellet mill manager and then spent many years in sales of specialty animal feeds. Most recently he worked for Sacred Heart-Griffin HS and the New Berlin School District as a substitute teacher stating that 1stgrade was his most interesting assignment! Since 2002, Coach “Teddy” Wise was a beloved part of the Sacred Heart-Griffin football staff coaching the defensive line and assisting with strength training. He was a WWII and aviation history enthusiast, a committed and involved member of the First Church of the Brethren and enjoyed visiting his son in Florida and grandchildren in Texas whenever he could. He had recently started ballroom dance lessons with his wife and despite a lack of rhythm, truly believed he was a Fred Astaire in the making.

He was preceded in death by his father Jack Wise. He is survived by his mother Velma Wise, wife Karen Drake Wise, son Jack Wise III (Mabely), sister Mary Todd Kaercher (Carl) and their two sons Mark Kritz (Migena) and Joseph Kaercher (Toni), stepdaughter Jennifer Slightom-Jones (Bryan), grandchildren Corrigan & Zoë Jones, and additional nephews, nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews who all loved Uncle Ted.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Virden, IL. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday March 23, 2019 at Sacred Heart Griffin West Campus Gymnasium Springfield, IL. Rev. Dr. Bobbi Dykma officiating.
