Barbara was born February 6, 1937, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, a daughter of Clyde and Laura (Hart) Hart. She married Donald E. Fuchs January 4, 1958 in Farmersville, IL. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Girard, IL, and retired from Dickey-john Corp., Auburn, IL, after 25 years of service.  Barbara loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and entertaining friends and family.

Surviving Barbara are her husband Donald E. Fuchs, of Girard, IL, daughters, Laura L. (Curt) Davis of Rochester, IL, and Dawn M. (Thomas) Steiner of Lincoln, IL, a son, Louis P. “Pat” (Theresa) Fuchs of Glenarm, IL, grandchildren, Alexandra and Cameron Davis, Nicholas and Craig Fuchs, Benjamin, Madeline and Claire Steiner, sister, Colleen (David) Sokol of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, brother William “Bill” (Myrt) Hart of Kalispell, MT, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Barbara in death were her parents and a brother, Richard Hart.

Virden-Shirley J. Palmer, 73, of Virden, IL passed away at 8:37 P.M. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born in Jacksonville, IL on August 7, 1941, a daughter to Lincoln & Martha Rae (Cook) Smith.  She later married Richard L. Palmer on May 3, 1957 in Palmyra, MO.

Shirley was a homemaker and loved to spend time with her family, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved to make crafts and was a member of Grace Southern Baptist Church, Virden, IL.

Surviving Shirley is her husband, Richard L. Palmer; son, Rick A. (Shannon) Palmer of Girard, IL; daughters, Vicki (John) Lewis of Virden, IL, Brenda Cox of Springfield, IL, Dawn (Rick) Allen of Divernon, IL, Crystal (Patrick) VanDiver of Springfield, IL, Tanya (George) Colvin of Virden, IL; brother, Harold (Evelyn) Smith of Pawnee, IL; sister, Leona Yoakum of Springfield, IL; 19 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Preceding Shirley in death are her parents; sister, Florence Brown and great grandson, Kyle Royer.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon, Monday, September 22, 2014 with the funeral service starting immediately following the service at 12:00 Noon at the Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, IL with the Rev. Chatham-Mrs. Patsy Ruth “Pat” Morris-Black, 75, of Chatham, IL passed away at 6:05 P.M. Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Regency Nursing Home in Springfield, IL.

Patsy was born in New Berlin, IL on September 10, 1939 a daughter to Nelson L. & Blanche Irene (Stone) Thompson.  Patsy married Martin Lee Morris on October 25, 1958 in Farmersville, IL; he precedes her in death.  She later married Terry L. Black on April 4, 2009 in Springfield, IL; he survives.

Patsy was a 1957 graduate of Farmersville High School.  She formerly worked at Sangamon State University in Springfield, IL.  She attended South Side Christian Church in Springfield, IL. She was a member of the Red Hat Club and also a member of Farmersville – Waggoner Homemaker’s Extension.  She loved to cook and bake things for her family.  She was also involved in the Watkins Quality Products for many years.

Surviving Patsy is her husband, Terry L. Black; sons, Keith (Kathy) Morris of Filmore, IL, John Martin (Jennifer) Morris of Waco, TX; sister, Nancy Leonard of Jacksonville, FL and several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her first husband, Martin L. Morris; sister, Louise Goodin and brother, Wayne Thompson.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden IL.  Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Virden – Bernard E. “Bernie” Perino 94 of Virden, IL died Sunday September 7, 2014 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village, Springfield, IL.

Bernie was born September 11, 1919 in Virden, IL a son of Barney Rezzonico and Theresa France Perino. He was a 1938 graduate of Virden High School and a WW II Army Air Corp veteran serving in the China/Burma/India theater. Bernie married Betty A. Kindle June 12, 1948 in Alton, IL and retired after working more than 30 years at Pillsbury Mills in Springfield, IL. He coached little league baseball and was the Springfield Golden Gloves flyweight champion at 112 pounds in 1937.

Surviving Bernie are his two sons, Robert C. (Lana) Perino of Toluca Lake, CA and Michael (Debbie) Perino of Springfield, IL, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Bernie in death was his wife Betty, daughter Kathy Drap, brothers, Tony, Joe and Frank Perino and sisters, Kate Lusebrink and Mary Leigh.

Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Virden, IL, is according cremation rites. There will be a celebration of the lives of Bernie and Betty at the Grand Tent at Piper Glen Golf Course, 7112 Piper Glen Drive, Springfield, IL on Sunday September 14, 2014 from 4-7 PM, casual attire. Virden – Margaret D. Berriman, 87 of Virden, IL passed away Tuesday at Sunrise Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Virden, IL.

Margaret was born July 30, 1927 in Kaiser, AR a daughter of William F. and Georgia E. (Isaacs) Morgan. She married Ralph I. Berriman May 21, 1946 in Virden, IL. Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church in Virden, IL. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, painting pictures, crossword puzzles and working in her yard.

Surviving Margaret is her sons, John (Mary) Berriman of Virden, IL, Ronald L. (Shirley) Berriman of Decatur, IL and daughter Carolyn J. Alsup of Virden, IL, 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, sisters, Monica Stebbins, Jeanette Alves and Claudette Carmichael all of Hanford, CA, and several nieces and nephews. Her husband Ralph Berriman, son Ralph E. Berriman, granddaughter, Tara Berriman, 2 brothers, 1 sister and son-in-law Jon Alsup, preceded Margaret in death.

Tovey – Dorothy F. Allen, 79 of Tovey, IL passed away Sunday August 31, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.

Dorothy was born November 3, 1934 in Tovey, IL a daughter of Joseph and Mary (Cavatorta) Lisse. She was a 1952 graduate of South Fork High School Kincaid, IL and a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Kincaid. IL. Dorothy married Dwayne Allen December 7, 1975 in Kincaid, IL and retired from Fiat-Allis in Springfield, IL after 30 years of employment.

Surviving Dorothy is her husband, Dwayne Allen of Tovey, IL, daughter Gayla A. (Bill) Ferry of Virden, IL 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, her Aunt Marie Cavatorta of Tovey, IL and several cousins. Preceding in death were Dorothy’s parents.

Prayer service will be at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday September 3, 2014 at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid, IL with visitation to follow from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday September 4, 2014 at St. Rita’s Church, Kincaid, IL with Father Mariadas Chatla officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery Taylorville, IL.       Elinor C. Hendricks, 100, Of Virden, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 11:35 a.m., at Pleasant Dale Place in Girard.

      She was born Nov. 1, 1913 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Scherer) Heuser. She attended Iowa State Teachers’ College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Elinor married Joseph Hendricks Nov. 28, 1936 in Iowa. They lived in Chicago, Kansas City, Mo. and Virden. In 1948 they moved to Virden and opened the Gambles Store which later became Hendricks Home Furnishings, Virden True Value and Virden Department Store. Joe died July 28, 1962, Elinor and her three sons continued the family business. She retired from the business in 1994 at the age of 80. She also played the organ for St. Catherine’s and Sacred Heart Churches in Virden and St. Patrick’s Church in Girard. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Virden, being named Church Woman of the Year in 2013.

      Elinor is survived by her four children, sons, Jim (Margaret), Joe, Jeff (Judy), all of Virden; and a daughter, Judy (Ken) MacMurdo of Southport, N. C.; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday, August 29, 2014 at the Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Virden, IL. with the reading of the Rosary at 7:45 P.M.   Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church, Virden, IL with Rev. Fr. George Morelock and Rev. Fr. James Palakudy officiating; organist, Marcella Roseiere.
