Virden-Theresa L. Ferrero, 97, of Virden, IL, passed away at 5:00 A.M. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield, IL surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on June 4, 1917 in New York Mills, MN to Ernest and Theresa Hensel. She married Albert Ferrero in 1950 and they had one daughter, Alyse (Robert) Engel. She had a son from a previous marriage, Charles (Marjorie) Scott.

Theresa worked as a waitress for many years at the Vird-Inn and Mick & Mary’s Place in Thayer. She also worked as a certified nursing assistant at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. She was very active in church work, loved sewing and crafts of all kinds. She and her husband joined the POLK of A Club in 1982. They enjoyed many years of dancing. They were a part of the exhibition team that preformed at retirement homes, nursing homes and civic centers throughout central Illinois.

Surviving Theresa is her husband of 64 years Albert M. Ferrero; son, Charles (Marjorie) Scott of Dallas, TX; daughter, Alyse (Robert) Engel, Chatham, IL; 5 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters. Preceding Theresa in death were her parents, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Sacred Heart Church with Mass starting at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Father James Palakudy officiating, organist, Marcella Rosiere. Girard – Agnes R. Edge 93 of Girard, IL passed away Sunday April 26, 2015 at Pleasant Dale Place in Girard, IL.

Agnes was born April 6, 1922 in Snap, KY a daughter of Alfonzo and Inez (Paris) Skaggs. She married Harvey L. “Roy” Edge Sr. Nov. 16, 1940 in St. Louis, MO. Agnes loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles and crocheting.

Surviving Agnes are her daughters, Shirley J. Worth of Virden, IL and Debra S. (Butch) Probst of Palmyra, IL, sons, Harvey “Leroy” (Nancy) Edge Jr. of Springfield, IL, Darrell D. (Elaine) Edge of Hannibal, MO and Mark “Randy” Edge of Girard, IL, 18 grandchildren, 39 great grandchild, 12 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were her husband Harvey L. “Roy” Edge Sr., 1 grandchildren Don Earl Edge and an infant great grandchild, 2 brothers, Leslie “Red” Skaggs and an infant James Skaggs.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday April 28, 2015 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Girard, IL with funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday April 29, 2015 at the funeral home. Virden-Harold F. Bruley, 74, of Virden, IL passed away at 2:12 A.M. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Harold was born November 6, 1940 in Springfield, IL, a son to Francis C. “Pete” & Dorothy (Allgood) Bruley. He was a 1960 graduate of Virden High School. He later married Pamela S. Landers on June 23, 1995 in Carlinville, IL.

Harold was a licensed demolition expert, and a heavy equipment operator. He was a former certified diver for Virden Rescue Squad. He spent his past few years working for Dean Dowson of Pawnee, IL, as a machinist and fabricator extraordinaire.

Harold is survived by his wife, Pamela S. (Landers) Bruley; sons, Harold F. “Butch” Bruley of Virden, IL, Ryan (Jodi) Baker of Virden, IL, Jim Bellm of Jacksonville, IL, Gary Bellm of Virden, IL, Justin Pfieler of Waverly, IL, Gary L. (Lori) Hatalla of Manteno, IL, Shawn Michael Landrey of Chesterfield, IL; daughters, Christine M. (Robert) Bruley-Hill of Virden, IL, Tammy (Lance) Miner of Waverly, IL, Angela Green-Rickman of Springfield, IL, Jessica Nicole Landrey of Virden, IL; brother, Kenneth A. (Linda) Bruley of Virden, IL, sister, Dorothy E. (Ron) Strukely of Virden, IL, numerous grandchildren, several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Harold in death were his parents.

Cremation rites are being accorded. There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, IL. Memorial Service will be at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Father James Palakudy officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Dalton Landers, Ray “Bubba” Mitchell, Ron Jomback, George Richards Jr., Gary Mottershaw, Dean Dowson. (Nell) Hampton of Pleasant Plains, IL, Ricky D. (Roxanne) Hampton of Ashland, IL; daughters, Loretta F. Lucassen of Thayer, IL, Lisa M. Lackey of Farmersville, IL; brothers, Richard Palmer of Virden, IL, Samuel Palmer of Gillespie, IL; sisters, Dorothy Hubbard of Encinitas, CA, Arline Hopper of Gillespie, IL, Lorraine Bivin of Springfield, IL; 15 grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Virden – Loren N. Fouts, 87 of Virden, IL passed away Wednesday April 1, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital Springfield, IL.

Loren was born September 18, 1927 in Nilwood, IL a son of Nelson and Etta (Grigg) Fouts. He graduated from Virden High School in 1945 and married Yoshiko Oshiro August 1, 1957 in Okinawa, Japan. He received a bachelor’s degree in education from Sangamon State University.  Loren was a charter member of Grace Southern Baptist Church Virden, IL and served as Sunday School Superintendent for 20 years. After 20 years of military service, first with the U.S. Navy and then retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Loren served in WW II, Korea and Viet Nam. He coached girls softball and basketball and taught for the Virden School District, retiring after 20 years.  He was a member of the Virden American Legion Post #386.

Surviving Loren are his daughters, Rev. Deborah K. (Yun) Chiu of Springfield, IL and Nancy F. (William) Evans of High Ridge, MO, sons, Shigeo O. (Cindy) Fouts of Terre Haute, IN, Wayne O. (Carol) Fouts, Steven L. (Lisa) Fouts both of Girard, IL and Loren N. (Renate) Fouts of Virden, IL, 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, sisters, Lamira Riffey of Springfield, IL and Linda (Robert) Pitchers of Pontoon Beach, IL, brother, Leo “Foozy” (Margie) Fouts of Virden, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were his wife, Yoshiko Fouts, sister Lyda Cowell, brothers, Lester and Lawrence Fouts, and grandchild Austin.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Grace Southern Baptist Church, Virden, IL and one hour prior to services at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the church. Girard-Ruth V. Royer, 99, formerly of Virden, passed away at 5:42 P.M. Friday, March 27, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.

Ruth was born December 11, 1915 in Divernon, IL a daughter to Thomas J. & Maude B. (Anderson) Martin. She later married Jerry W. Royer on February 11, 1939 in Virden, IL.

Ruth graduated from Divernon High School. She was also a member of the Virden Church of the Brethren. She was a member of Do More Home Extension.

Surviving Ruth are her daughters; Dorothy L.(Wayne) Helmerichs of Virden, IL, Wilma Christianson (companion, Michael Maple) of Springfield, IL; 4 grandchildren; Allen Helmerichs, David Helmerichs, Barbara Mossman and Carol Nolet; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Jerry W. Royer and brother, Virgil Martin.

There will be no visitation. There will be a graveside service at 11:30 A.M. Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Virden Cemetery with the Rev. Dave Barnett officiating. Pallbearers: Allen Helmerichs, David Helmerichs, Tony Helmerichs, Corey Helmerichs, Derek Helmerichs and Kevin Helmerichs.
