Delray Beach, FL – Eric J. Wolfe, 40 of Delray Beach, FL formerly of Virden, IL passed away Saturday August 20, 2016 at Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, FL.

Eric was born May 8, 1976 in Springfield, IL a son to Robert J. and Roberta M. (Bolton) Wolfe. He was a 1994 graduate of Virden High School where he was very active in sports. Eric attended Monmouth College for 3 ½ years and transferred to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY where he graduated in 2002. After graduation Eric worked for National Steel and Shipbuilding Co, and for Maersk Line Limited as Third Mate, Deck Dept. on the USNS Victorious and M/V Pfc. William B. Baugh prior to being honorably discharged from the merchant marine.

Surviving Eric is his mother, Roberta M. Wolfe of Virden, IL, grandmother, Mary Lou Ersery of Virden, IL, sister, Carmen J. (Shane) Bishop of Virden, IL, uncle and aunt Gary and Anita Wolfe of Fountain Hills, AZ, nephew, Andrew Wolfe and niece, Savannah Bishop both of Virden, IL, cousins, Alicia and Amanda Wolfe and several additional aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceding in death was his father Robert J. Wolfe.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday August 27, 2016 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Virden, IL with Celebration of Life services at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Stephen Gocking officiating.  Memorials may be made to North Mac Sports Boosters. Virden – James W. Hutchison Jr. 78, of Virden, IL passed away August 13, 2016 at Pleasant Hill Village Girard, IL.

Jim was born December 3, 1937 in Virden, IL a son of James W. and Bertha K. (Steele) Hutchison Sr. He graduated from Virden High School in 1957 and was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving from 1958 to 1962. Jim formerly worked at Fiat-Allis in Springfield, IL. and retired as a Park Ranger for the State of Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Jim was a member of the National Rifle Association, and loved to hunt, fish be with his pets and watch western movies. Jim married Mary Jane Monts May 24, 1993 in Carlinville, IL.

Surviving Jim is his wife Mary Jane of Virden, IL, daughters, Connie Jo (Rick) Marx of Girard, IL, Teresa Kahl of Las Vegas, NV, Lisa (Robert) Boone of Virden, IL, Mary (Craig) Wagner of Shorewood, IL and Beth (Rick) Howard of Waverly, IL, sons, James W. Hutchison III of Virden, IL, Bradley Dale Bolton of Vandalia, IL, Terry Wayne (companion, Janet Little) Hutchison of Auburn, IL, Michael Lynn Hutchison of Girard, IL, Scott (Sheri) Hutchison of Arvada, CO and Jon (Claudette) Monts of Plainfield, IL, 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding Jim in death were his parents and a son Keith Wesley Hutchison.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday August 17, 2016 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, IL, with funeral services to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Chaplain Terry Link officiating. Virden – Jack B. Kirby, Sr. passed away at 9:45 P.M. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Sunrise Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Virden, Illinois.

Jack was born on August 31, 1925 in Pleasant Plains, Illinois a son to George F. & Eva M. (Steele) Kirby.  He married Bettie F. Gibson on June 21, 1946 in Springfield, IL.

Jack served in the U.S. Navy during WW II from November 5, 1943 to April 10, 1946. He worked as a machinist / auto mechanic for Hubor Pontiac & Berry Automotive retiring in 1982.  He also worked at Fiatt-Allis and retired after 30 years of service in 1984.  Jack was a member of the Auburn Church of the Nazarene and belonged to the American Legion Post #386, Virden, IL.

Surviving Jack is his loving wife, Bettie of 70 years; sons, Jack B. (Sherry) Kirby, Jr. of Chatham, IL, Michael R. Kirby of Virden, IL; step-brother, William (Sue) Dalby of Auburn, IL; step-sister, Betty Heggy of Virden, IL; grandchildren, Kimberly Cotterman and Diane Brown; great grandchildren, Allison & Cameron Cotterman and several nieces & nephews.  Preceding Jack in death are his parents; sister, Bertha Hines and brother, George Frank Kirby.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:15 A.M. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, IL.  Graveside services will be at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Virden Cemetery, Virden, IL.  Pallbearers:  William Dalby, Michael Brown, William L. Virden – Ima Jean Mitchell Watret, 82 of Virden, IL passed away Thursday August 4, 2016 at her home.

Ima Jean was born July 13, 1932 in Virden, IL a daughter to Howard and Violet M. (Austin) Mitchell. She was a 1952 graduate of Virden High School and Married Leonard Francis “Franny” Watret on July 26, 1952 in Waverly, IL. Ima Jean retired from Dickey-john in Auburn, IL as a Foreman after 25 years of employment. She enjoyed reading and crocheting.

Ima Jean is survived by her daughter, Chris (Johnny Glenn) Chaplin of Girard, IL, a son, Roger (LaDonna) Watret of Virden, IL, 6 grandchildren 11 great grandchildren, a sister, Mitzie (Steve) Hughes of Palmyra, IL, brothers, Eldon (Mary) Mitchell of Carlinville, IL and Raymond “Bubba” Mitchell of Virden, IL and several nieces and nephews.  Preceding in death was her husband, Leonard Francis “Franny” Watret, sister, Cattie Mae Mitchell and a brother Jack Mitchell.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Monday August 8, 2016 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Virden, IL with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Carlinville – Billy B. Best, 88, of Carlinville, IL passed away at 9:15 A.M. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Friendship Home and Rehabilitation Center in Carlinville, IL.

Billy was born April 20, 1928 in Palmyra, IL a son to William G. & Clara E. (Bivin) Best.  He married Martha Ann Baldridge on March 1, 1959.

Billy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of the Blooming Grove Christian Church for over 50 years and was a member of the 5th R.C.T.  He was Assistant Vice President & Treasurer for Security Federal Savings & Loan.

Surviving Billy are sons, Daniel G. Best of Berkley, CA, Darrin F. (Vicki) Best of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Jill L. (Mike) Lautemann of Woodson, IL; brother, Michael (Catherine) Best of Palmyra, IL; sisters, Kay Shipley of Carlinville, IL, Geraldine Qualls of Palmyra, IL; grandchildren, Michael (Kristy) Lautemann , Drew (Eva) Lautemann, Mariana Best , Will Best, Josh Best , & Abby Best; great grandchildren, Jace Lautemann, Lilly O’Hara, Axel Lautemann, & Emma Lautemann and several nieces and nephews.  Preceding Billy in death are his parents and his wife, Martha (Baldridge) Best.

Litchfield – Karen L. Thomas, 59 of Litchfield, IL formerly of Virden, IL, passed away Tuesday July 19, 2016 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield, IL.

Karen was born July 23, 1956 in Springfield, IL a daughter to Elmer R. and Edith (Ramsey) Rogers. She graduated from Lamphier High School in Springfield, IL. Karen worked as a cook at St. John’s Hospital and formerly worked at Bonny’s Bakery in Virden, IL.

Surviving Karen are her daughters, Karie L. (Steven) Loving of Chatham, IL, and Kayla A. (Christopher) Smith of Rota, Spain, a son Kyle L. Thomas of Virden, IL, 6 grandchildren, sister, Janet (Thomas) Miller of Springfield, IL and brother Elmer R. (Joanie) Rogers of Springfield, IL, several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were her parents, and a brother, Melvin E. Rogers.

Following cremation graveside of ashes will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday July 22, 2016 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Springfield, IL. Chatham – Mark Wayne Molen, 59, of Chatham, IL passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO after battling Ocular Melanoma (cancer).

Mark was born May 20, 1957 in Springfield, IL. His parents are Delbert Wayne and Dorothy Louise (Denney) Molen. He graduated from Virden High School in 1975, where he played football and basketball and served in FFA. Mark attended Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL, where he studied soil science and played basketball. He co-owned Molen Family Farms and Molen Grain Co, and acted as president of Jet Transit Co. and contracted as a consultant to Seth Molen Construction Inc.

Surviving Mark is his daughter Kayla N. (Michael) Thomas of Springfield; sons Seth Wayne (Ivy) Molen of Springfield, IL, Grant C., Luke T. and Rhett D. Molen all of Taylorville, IL; mother Louise Molen of Virden, IL; grandsons Mason and Knox Thomas of Springfield, IL; sisters Linda Louise Waddell of Springfield, IL, Billie Sue (Ray) Landers of Auburn, IL and Annette S. Molen of Virden, IL; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his father Delbert Wayne Molen, brother John I. Molen and nephew Michael Scott McCarty.

Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, IL. Funeral service will follow the visitation. Pastor James Wolfe officiating.
