Virden – Larry V. Royer, 61, of Virden, IL, passed away Friday June 9, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born June 30, 1955 in Springfield, IL a son of Vernon and Shirley (Dameron) Royer. He was a 1973 graduate of Virden High School and farmed in the Virden area his entire life. Larry worked as a service manager for over 30 years in area auto dealerships and was a member of Cross Church in Carlinville, IL. He married Carla J. Grider April 4, 1998 in Divernon, IL.

Surviving is his wife, Carla J. Royer of Virden, IL; daughters, Stacey N. (Michael) Hart of Waggoner, IL; Michelle L. (Derrick) Streibig of Girard, IL; Micaela R. Royer and Makenzie R. Royer both of Virden, IL; mother, Shirley (James) Zelmer of Chatham, IL; sisters, Dianne (Steven) Sommer of Chatham, IL and Jane (Bill) Elliott of Scottville, IL; 8 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding in death was his father Vernon Royer.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday June 12, 2017 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Virden, IL with funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday June 13, 2017 at the funeral home. Rev. Tim Rhodus officiating. Pallbearers: Mike Hart, Derrick Streibig, Justin Hart, Steven Sommer, Bill Elliott and Joe Rover. Burial will be in Virden Cemetery. Frederick “Uncle Sam” Adamski, 83 of Carlinville, IL formerly of Port Orange, FL. Passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Fred was born April 15, 1934 in Throop, PA, a son of William and Martha (Skonietzki) Adamski, Sr. He graduated from Lanphier High School in Springfield, IL, and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 in Germany. Fred retired from the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture where he worked as a meat inspector. He enjoyed writing, golf, travel and portraying “Uncle Sam” in local community events but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife Mary Ann Adamski of Carlinville, IL, daughters, Tracy Lynn of Springfield, IL and Lisa (Tom) Mancini of Matthews, NC, sons, Kevin (Lee) Ralph of Decatur, IL, Todd Wright of Wills Point, TX, and David (Shannon) Wright of Gillespie, IL, nine grandchildren, Michael (Tia) Carter, Natalie (Michael) McKee, Ryan (Jessica) Ralph, Jeremy Mancini, Noah Wright, Colton Flournoy, Macie, Isabel and Alexander Wright, one great grandson, John Meadows, brothers, William Adamski of Springfield, IL and Donald (Evelyn) Adamski of Chatham, IL and several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were his parents, and a sister-in-law Georgia Adamski.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Girard, IL. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017 in Girard Cemetery, Girard, IL. Rev. Virden – Donald R. “Reub” McKain, 82 of Virden, IL passed away Wednesday May 17, 2017 at Heritage Healthcare in Carlinville, IL, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born April 27, 1935 in Virden, IL a son of Reuben A. and Mary E. (Thacker) McKain. He graduated from Virden High School in 1953. Don was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1953 to 1958. He formerly worked for Town Gas company in Virden, IL for 17 years prior to starting McKain Plumbing in Virden, IL. He was a member of the Virden American Legion in Virden, IL and the Chatham VFW and the Auburn American Legion. Don was a former Virden Moose member, Virden Alderman and Virden Volunteer Fireman, He married Mary (Richmond) Howe June 16, 2006 in Carlinville, IL.

Surviving is his wife Mary McKain of Virden, IL, daughters, Patricia (Bob) Royer of Carrollton, IL and Dondi (Mick) Lechner of Virden, IL,  sons, Danny McKain of Pleasant Plains, IL, Doug McKain of Chatham, IL and Dameon (Regan) McKain of Virden, IL, step-daughters, Catherine (Ben) Oller of Litchfield, IL, Sandra (David) Billington of Godfrey, IL and Deanna (Bill) Richardson of Ocala, FL, step-sons, Clark Allen Howe of Kuwait and Michael Howe of Nokomis, IL, 23 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were his parents, sisters, Lucille Schroeder, Betty VanAusdall and Peggy Sorenson.

Surviving is his brother, Danny W. Thomas of Virden, IL and an aunt and uncle. Preceding in death were his parents.

Virden – Clifford A. “Joe” Bolton 66 of Virden, IL passed away Sunday May 14, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born March 7, 1951 in Virden, IL a son of William and Doris (Bolton) Whitaker. He was a 1969 graduate of Virden High School. Joe worked as a coal miner retiring from Freeman Crown II Coal Mine after 30 years of service and was a member of the UMWA. He married Velma Branham July 11, 1969 in Virden, IL.

Surviving is his wife Velma Bolton of Virden, IL, son James Bolton of Virden, IL, 4 grandchildren, brothers, Bill (Nancy) Whitaker and Charles Whitaker both of Virden, IL and several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death was his parents, sisters, LouAnn Rogers and Minnie Sexton.

Girard – John D. “Jack” Morgan of Girard, IL passed away Monday May 1, 2017 at Carlinville Area Hospital Carlinville, IL.

Jack was born October 24, 1936 in Taylorville, IL a son of John H. and Eva (Hood) Morgan. He graduated from Girard High School Girard, IL, and married Marty J. Cordum October 22, 1982 in Girard, IL. Jack retired February 1992 from Monterey Coal Company in Carlinville, IL as a shift mine manager. He enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing at Otter Lake Girard, IL and Lake June In The Winter, Lake Placid, FL and being a dedicated husband, father and PaPa.

Surviving are his wife, Marty Morgan of Girard, IL;  sons, John Michael “Mike” (Diane) Morgan of Lewistown, MT and Norman Eugene (Libby) Morgan of Litchfield, IL, daughters, Lavena Morgan of Salem, OR, Chris (companion: David Range) Russell of Virden, IL and Patti (companion: David Rodney) Ibberson of Virden, IL, grandchildren, Summer (Aaron) Mosher, Aaron (Kristin) Morgan, Nolan (Milissa) Morgan, Lyra (Aric) Brown, Richard (Jessica) Ibberson, Savanah (Taylor) Murphy, Joshua (Xan) Ibberson and Shelby (companion: Josh Lewis) Russell, 17 great grandchildren and one on the way. Preceding in death were his parents, and a sister, Pat Pargas.

Auburn – Evelyn Knight Plummer, 88 of Auburn, IL passed away Tuesday April 18, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital Springfield, IL.

Evelyn was born May 17, 1928 in Auburn, IL a daughter of Louie B. and grace M. (Pittman) Knight. She was a 1946 graduate of Auburn High School auburn, IL. Evelyn married Leonard “Ray” Plummer July 1, 1947 in Taylorville, IL. She retired from St. John’s hospital after 34 years in the Laboratory. Evelyn was a member of the Auburn Christian Church Auburn, IL, Third Age Living at St. John’s hospital and AARP.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, William Ray (Chris) Plummer of Honea Path SC, Robert Joseph (Martha) Plummer of Virden, IL and John Stephen Plummer of Auburn, IL, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, daughter in law Sandra Plummer of Auburn, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding in death were her parents, husband, Leonard “Ray” Plummer, a daughter, Evelyn “Carol” Pierce and a son Louie Edward Plummer, grandson William R. Plummer Jr. son-in-law Warren Pierce, sisters, Goldie Brewer, Dorothy Stroisch and LaVerna Helton, brothers, Bobbie Gene Knight and Louie M. Knight.
