Auburn – Evelyn Knight Plummer, 88 of Auburn, IL passed away Tuesday April 18, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital Springfield, IL.

Evelyn was born May 17, 1928 in Auburn, IL a daughter of Louie B. and grace M. (Pittman) Knight. She was a 1946 graduate of Auburn High School auburn, IL. Evelyn married Leonard “Ray” Plummer July 1, 1947 in Taylorville, IL. She retired from St. John’s hospital after 34 years in the Laboratory. Evelyn was a member of the Auburn Christian Church Auburn, IL, Third Age Living at St. John’s hospital and AARP.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, William Ray (Chris) Plummer of Honea Path SC, Robert Joseph (Martha) Plummer of Virden, IL and John Stephen Plummer of Auburn, IL, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, daughter in law Sandra Plummer of Auburn, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding in death were her parents, husband, Leonard “Ray” Plummer, a daughter, Evelyn “Carol” Pierce and a son Louie Edward Plummer, grandson William R. Plummer Jr. son-in-law Warren Pierce, sisters, Goldie Brewer, Dorothy Stroisch and LaVerna Helton, brothers, Bobbie Gene Knight and Louie M. Knight.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday April 23, 2017 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Auburn, IL with funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday April 24, 2017 at the Auburn Christian Church in Auburn, IL. Virden – Morris E. “MoMo” Whalen 81 of Virden, IL passed away Tuesday April 18, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center Springfield, IL.

Morris was born April 30, 1935 in Virden, IL a son of David and Caroline (McAllister) Whalen. He was a 1954 graduate of Virden High School. Morris was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a coal miner retiring after 27 years working for Freeman United Coal Company. He married Mary Copelin in 1957 in Auburn, IL and she preceded in death in 1989. He married Connie Menser in 1993 in Virden, IL.

Morris is survived by his wife Connie Whalen of Virden, IL, grandson Ryan Burris of Virden, IL, brother Lawrence “Buddy” Whalen of Virden, IL, step-son, Rick (Dawn) Menser of Virden, IL, step-daughter, Paula (Paul) Bouldin of Girard, IL, step-grandchildren, Danielle Menser, Jake, Alex and Tyson Bouldin, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding in death was his first wife, Mary Copelin, daughter, Pamela Burris, granddaughter, Tracey Lynn Burris, sisters, Barbara Griffin and Carolyn Cherry, brothers, Robert, Ernest, William “Bill”, Donald and Jack Whalen.

Girard – Kathryn “Kay” E. Millburg 92 of Girard, IL passed away Easter Sunday April 16, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Kay was born August 30, 1924 in Virden, IL a daughter of John and Catherine (Hnath) Kopjo. She graduated from Virden High School in 1943. Kay was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and St. Patrick’s church in Girard, IL. She married Harlan R. Millburg December 31, 1947 in Virden, IL. Kay loved making floral arrangements with the flowers that grew in the garden on the farm.

Surviving are two daughters, Brenda C. (Lonnie) Wittenauer and Annette (James) Bails both of Springfield, IL, two sons, Dennis R. (Cathy) Millburg of Franklin, IL and Michael E. (Jacqueline) Millburg of Gimsbach, Germany, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were her parents, husband, Harlan R. Millburg, infant son John Harlan Millburg, daughter, Cheryl M. Penning and a sister, Helen Evans.

Kathryn donated her body to science through Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. There will be a memorial mass at 10:30 A.M. Virden –      Richard Ross Lane, 86 of Virden, IL passed away Tuesday April 4, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center Springfield, IL

Richard was born September 3, 1930 in Hinsdale, IL a son of Carl J. and Charlotte (Ross) Lane. He was a graduate of Mercersburg Prep School in Pennsylvania and a graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the Virden American Legion Post #386 in Virden, IL. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church Virden, IL. He married Theresa Rudolphi April 15, 1971 in Springfield, IL. He owned and operated R.R. Lane Land and Mineral Acquisitions in Virden, IL.

Surviving is his wife, Theresa R. Lane of Virden, IL a daughter, Darcy V. (Michael) Zenker of St. Louis, MO, a son, Ched Lane of Springfield, IL, grandchildren, Vaelen Lane, Annie and Bradley Zenker and one niece and one nephew. Preceding in death were his parents, and a brother, Carl Lane.

Virden-Lisa Lund Maltby, 55, of Virden, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at home.  Lisa was born on August 3, 1961 in Springfield, the daughter of Thomas L. and JoAnn Butler.  She attended Springfield Public Schools and worked in Springfield all of her life retiring from Memorial Medical Center where she worked as a unit clerk for more than 30 years.

Lisa enjoyed time with her family and going out with friends.  She also enjoyed pets all of her life and was never without a dog or cat, or both.  She loved almost anything that used to belong to family members and was crafty with utilizing and appreciating these things as decorations in her home.

She is survived by her children, Sarah Catherine Maltby and Ellen Lund Maltby both of Virden; sister Linda S. Hayes (Paul) of Springfield; one nephew and niece.  Lisa was preceded in death by her father in 2010 and mother in 2016.

Cremation rites were accorded by the Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, IL.  A private burial will be held in Oakridge Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Sarah C. Virden – Bryon “Scott” VanAusdall 57 of Virden, IL passed away Friday March 24, 2017 in Springfield, IL.

Scott was born September 18, 1959 in Springfield, IL a son of James and Betty (McKain) VanAusdall. He was a 1977 graduate of Virden High School and a member of the Virden Church of The Nazarene Virden, IL. He worked as a crossing guard for over 30 years for the Virden School District and later for North Mac. Scott was a handyman doing mowing and yard clean up or whatever you needed done.

Scott is survived by his sister Mary (David) Long of Virden, IL, brother James (Henra) VanAusdall of Virden, IL, several nieces and nephews and special friends, Jamie, Brittany and Destiny Griffiths of Virden, IL. Preceding Scott in death were his parents.

Cremation rites were accorded by Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Virden, IL. Graveside burial of ashes will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 8, 2017 at Virden Cemetery Virden, IL. Rev. Virden – Robert J. “Bob” Donnellan 93, of Virden, IL passed away Wednesday March 22, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Village Girard, IL.

Bob was born August 25, 1923 in Chicago, IL a son of Thomas and Edna (Flynn) Donnellan. He graduated from Leo Catholic High School High in Chicago, IL in 1941. He served during WW II in the U.S. Navy as a Quartermaster First Class. Bob worked for over 30 years for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad in Chicago, IL as a switchman, retiring in 1976. He married Patricia J. Lenihan July 24, 1990 in Carlinville, IL.

Surviving are his sons, Dennis (Barbara) Donnellan of Bristol, IL, James (Peg) Donnellan of Frankfort, IL and Tim (Michele) Donnellan of Palm Harbor, FL, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a brother, Eugene (Audrey) Donnellan of Owego, NY, several nieces and nephews and a step-son, Michael (Nancy) Lenihan of Palatine, IL. Preceding in death were his parents, wife, Patricia Donnellan, son, Thomas Donnellan, sister, Patricia Looby and brothers, James and Bernard Donnellan.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Virden, IL.  Graveside interment of ashes will be held on at 1:30 P.M.
