Evan R. Cain

Morrisonville – Evan R. Cain, 64 of Morrisonville, IL formerly of Virden, IL, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Generations Rehabilitation in Lincoln IL.

Evan was born January 31, 1955 in Springfield, IL, the son of Russell E. and Evelyn L. (Wrightsman) Cain. He was baptized at the Virden Church of The Brethren and attended Harvel New Life Church in Harvel, IL, where he played the guitar for services. Evan retired as a coal miner from Freeman United Crown II in Virden, IL with over 30 years of mining. He played guitar in several area bands most notably Southern Cross Gospel Group for many years. Evan was a member of Christian Motorcycle Association traveling around the area ministering through music and for 5 years was active in prison music ministry.

He married JoAnn (Hannon) Charles September 12, 1987 in Springfield, IL.

Surviving Evan is his wife, JoAnn Cain of Morrisonville, IL; daughters: Linsey Cain and Carly (fiancé, Michael Boblitt) Hinds both of Chatham, IL and Billie Sue (Duayne) Howell of Manchester, IA; sons: Cory (Kelcie) Cain and Jacey (Stephanie) Cain both of Lake St. Louis, MO, Paul Charles III of Virden, IL and Robert Charles of East Moline, IL; 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; sisters: Brenda (David) McKennedy of Auburn, IL, Arlene (Dale) Rhodes of Marion, IL and Nancy Heriford of Virden, IL, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were his parents and brother-in-law Robert Heriford.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to Noon Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Virden, IL with funeral services at Noon Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Nick Donaldson officiating. Pallbearers: Dave Osborn, Robert Pratt, Paul Charles III, Duayne Howell, Harley Howell and Michael Boblitt. Burial will be in Virden Cemetery.   1. Evan was such a great person. I grew up with him. Graduated with him in 1973. Life goes by quickly and is way to short. God’s Blessings to you all. He will be missed

Evan and l knew each other through music for quite some time in our younger days…Through all the years l had known Evan.l don’t remember a foul or cross word coming from his lips.We were in a local band for about 5 years but that was long enough to know him well..We kept in contact for a few years then l left state but as soon as l came back on FB l seen that smiling face of Evan Cain. What l would give just to sPeak to him again.I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU MY OLE FREIND R.I.P.
    I know you and the lord are walking through those heavenly gates together….
