Audrey Joyce Coe 

Virden– Audrey “Joyce” Coe 87, of Cheyenne, WY, formerly of Virden, IL, passed away Thursday August 29, 2019 at her residence in Cheyenne, WY, with her grandson Branden and wife, Holly Behl, family members, and her constant companion, Smokie, at her side.

Joyce was born November 20, 1931 in Glasgow, KY, a daughter of Hubert E. and Scharline H. (Humphrey) Wheeler. She married George V. Coe November 27, 1963 in Ashland, IL. Joyce was a member of Grace Southern Baptist Church in Virden, IL, and worked at the State Bank of Virden now 1st. National Bank of Virden, IL, and for UCB Bank of Auburn, now Community Bank of Auburn, IL. She enjoyed over 48 years in the banking business and was proud of her banking career.

Joyce is survived by her daughters,  Kimberly (Floyd) Behl and Shari Duhs both of Virden, IL, sons, Keith (Susan) Coe and Brent (Gloria) Coe both of Virden, IL, 6 Grandchildren, Ian, Graham and Aaron Coe, Branden Behl, Kourtni Hampton and Kalen Duhs., 7 Great Grandchildren, Sisters, Mary Cummings of Springfield, IL, Wanda Stucker of Texas and Barb White of Iowa, Brothers, Kenneth Wheeler of  Alabama, Walt Wheeler of Wisconsin and Hal Wheeler of Girard, IL, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband George V. Coe and brother, Wally Wheeler.

Cremation Rites accorded by Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Virden, IL. There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Grace Southern Baptist Church – Grace 2, Virden, IL.  Everyone is invited.   Please visit: to leave a comment for the family.

  2. So sorry to hear of Joyce passing. She was a wonderful and caring person. We worked together over 25 years ago at the bank but I still smile when I think of her and her kindness. She always shared to baked goodies with my family. I’m thinking of you all. Stephanie and Paul Seaman
