Alice Mae Girdler

Alice Mae Girdler, 81, of Virden died Sunday, July 28, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born February 5, 1938, in West Frankfort, IL the daughter of Lawrence and Violet Evans Griffith.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stan Girdler; brothers, Lawrence Griffith, DavidGriffith and grandson, Kyle Meisenheimer.

Surviving children: Vickie ( Scott) Lewis of Springfield; Ricky ( Dawn) Meisenheimerof Virden; Dawn ( Brian) Willoughby of Virden and step-son, Mitchell Girdler of Oregon.  Two brothers, Danny ( Judy) Griffith of Girard and DuWayne Griffith of Virden; two sisters, Ida Beane and Elizabeth Joplin, all of Virden, five grandchildren  and three great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Gathering will be  from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 3, 2019 at the New Life Family Church, 303 Clover Lane, Auburn, IL with the Rev. Larry Griffith and Rev. Aaron Griffith officiating. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 a.m.Burial of remains will be at the Virden Cemetery.   1. I am so sorry to see this. Alice was my 1st boss after my dad. I loved that lady. She took this young, shy girl under her wing and we became friends. Life changes and we lose track of people but I surely never forgot Alice. Vickie, Chicken, Ida, Liz, Danny, and your families please accept my deepest sympathies.   2. Our prayers for her family and many friends. Alice was a lady you never forgot. She could run circles around almost everyone else! She had a big heart and a no nonsense way of tending to everyone who crossed her path. Alice’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.

  7. Alice I can remember how we always joked around about what you would do. Now that time has come. I have been in Virden so many times thinking I would go by and see you but never did. I am paying for it now. You were a dear friend to me and I will never forget you. Give Mary a hug for me.
