Chatham – Daniel Samuelson, 65 of Chatham, IL, passed away Monday August 27, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center Springfield, IL.

Dan was born August 13, 1953 in Kansas City, KS. He was a son of Aden and Juanita (Warren) Samuelson. Dan married Wanda L. Kiel August 12, 1989 in Lee Summit, MO. He was an insurance underwriter for various insurance companies and attended the First Baptist Church in Virden, IL.

Surviving Dan is survived by his wife, Wanda L. of Chatham, IL, a sister Sherry (Larry) Moon of Manhattan, KS and several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death was his parents and brother, Dennis Samuelson.

Cremation rites are being accorded by Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Virden, IL with private family graveside at 11:30 a.m. Saturday September 1, 2018 at Virden Cemetery. Raymond – Mary Ann Weld, 84 of Raymond, IL, passed away Tuesday August 28, 2018 at her daughter’s residence in Springfield, IL, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary Ann was born April 9, 1934 in Chicago, IL, a daughter of Anton and Tessie (Orrell) Krest. She married Jack Weld November 5, 1954 in Chicago, IL. Mary Ann was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farmersville, IL

Surviving Mary Ann are her daughters, Marietta Zarack of Springfield, IL, and Ellen (Danny) Riemann of Raymond, IL, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Preceding in death were her parents, husband, Jack Weld, a daughter, Jill Weld Brown and a sister, Patsy Krest.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Girard, IL, there will be a 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service Saturday September 8, 2018 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farmersville, IL Burial of ashes will be in Lowe Cemetery, Royal, AR at a later date. Gilbert, AZ-Billie Javancie, 79, formerly of Virden, IL and Significant Other of the late Raymond Black of Virden, IL, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018 surrounded by friends and many persons who cared for her at the Majestic Rose assisted living home in Gilbert, AZ.

Billie was born November 6, 1938, in Virden, IL. She was the daughter of the late Lena & Anthony Javancie.

Billie worked as a court stenographer and after an early retirement moved to Scottsdale, AZ.  As an artist and lover of art, she collected multiple paintings in support of local artists.  She enjoyed world travel, exploring more than 99 countries.  She adored her beloved dog, Nikko.

Billie is survived by friend, Billie Randall of Scottsdale, AZ.

Virden – Barbara Jean Brown, 75, of Virden, IL passed away at 2:12 AM Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born April 17, 1943 in Springfield, IL a daughter to Steve and Marguerite (Holloway) Centko.  She married Russell E. Brown on May 5, 1962 in Virden, IL.

Barbara retired from Blue Cross / Blue Shield in 2009 after 17 years of service. She was an active member of the Church of Faith and Deliverance.  She served as the Treasurer and was actively involved in the Auburn Senior Citizens. She was also an avid volunteer for many causes during her lifetime; she was very proud of her accomplishments assisting the First Baptist Church of Girard with stuffing thousands of eggs for the annual community Easter Egg Hunt.  She was a member of several card clubs.  When Barbara wasn’t using her free time crocheting or playing her Kindle, she loved to travel.  She also cared for many family and friends during their time of need.  Her favorite pastime was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters and friends.

Surviving Barbara is her son, Brian E. (Cindy) Brown of Lowder, IL; daughter, Tina M. Brown of Girard, IL; sisters, Nancy Lowder of Springfield, IL, Betty Jones of Chatham, IL; grandchildren, Jamie Brown, Brian R. Brown, Clayton Waldeck; great grandchildren, Xavier Lance and Wyatt Brown.  Preceding Barbara in death are her parents, husband, Russell E. Brown and daughter, Penny S. Brown.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, IL.  Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 27, 2018 also at the funeral home with Pastor Julie Elliott and Pastor Victor Angulo officiating. Pallbearers:   Brian E. Jordan was born February 29, 1992 in Springfield, IL, a son to John E. and Terri L. (Harris) Ackelson. He was a 2010 graduate of Southeast High School and CACC Auto Tech in 2010.

Anthony P. “Tony” Dubosh

Virden – Anthony P. “Tony” Dubosh, 96, of Virden, IL passed away at 10:29 A.M. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Anthony was born on January 1, 1922 the son of John J. and Veronica (Marcinko) Dubosh in Virden, IL.  He was a graduate of Virden High School class of 1939.

Anthony joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943 and was an Airplane Engine Repairman and his specialty was Navigation.  He was a 2ndLt. and his occupational specialty was a Flight Engineer. Anthony graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Accounting.  He later attended DePaul University where he graduated with his law degree in 1953.  Anthony returned to Virden where he practiced law from 1953 to 2017, 64 years.  He was a member of the Illinois State Bar. Anthony was a member of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the V.F.W. and the Virden American Legion Post 386. Anthony was an avid walker and was involved with long term studies.  He loved spending time with his siblings, their families and he loved the outdoors and helping others in the community.  Anthony loved to cook and he also loved animals.

Surviving Anthony are several nieces and nephews.  Preceding Anthony in death are his parents; brothers, John, Steve and infant Andrew “Andy” Dubosh; sisters, Mary Horne, Margaret Takach and Vera Leonard.

Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Virden, IL.  There will be a brief time before the Funeral Mass for viewing at the church. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, Virden, IL with the Rev.
